Date: 13th century Council: Baiona Localization: On St. Marta's peninsula located at the entrance to Baiona. Very little remains of the primitive St. Marta's chapel, since its site, at a peninsula with the same name, was one of the prime objectives of pirates and Berbers. Drake burned the place in 1585 when he tries to invade Baiona but he did not succeed thanks to the valour of the residents of the area.A little late Romanesque temple that presents a rectangular floor plan and just the one nave. The southern door is of ogival style. It has a roof that is supported by the southern facade and two square base columns. |
